PADDLEPOWER

Paddlepower is an exciting and colourful scheme that has been designed to meet the needs of young paddlers aged roughly 12-15 years. The scheme allows young paddlers to experience all aspects of the sport, including competition and adventure elements.

The Awards

Paddlepower Start
An entry level award suitable for taster sessions or the first session in a series. There is a certificate which can be awarded by the coach at the end of the session.

Paddlepower Passport
Paddlepower Passport comprises four progressive levels that guide the new paddler from the initial “Start” session through 24 competencies, skills and knowledge, which encourage each paddler to achieve a recognisable standard. Adults would achieve a similar standard via the BCU 1 Star. A coaching programme of
approximately eight hours would be appropriate for most participants.

There is a colourful 6 page Progress Card for the young paddler to record their progress and to encourage them to move to Paddlepower Discover. On completion of the award they should send their Progress Card to us to receive a certificate.

Paddlepower Discover
Paddlepower Discover comprises four more progressive levels that encourage the young paddler to focus their attention on particular techniques, skills and areas of knowledge. The aim of this award is to significantly develop their competences and give the paddler an appropriately raised standard of achievement. Adults would achieve a similar standard via the BCU 2 star. A coaching programme of approximately 15 – 20 hours would be appropriate for most participants.

There is a colourful 6 page Progress Card for the young paddler to record their progress and to encourage them to move to Paddlepower Explore. On completion of the award they should send their Progress Card to us to receive a certificate.
